Vigilante Vi’s sister-turned-rival Jinx leads a revolution in the fictional city of Zaun in the latest trailer of Netflix and Riot Games’ Arcane Season 2, the last instalment of the animated series based on the League of Legends video game.

Arcane explores the origin stories of two champions, sisters Jinx (Ella Purnell) and Vi (Hailee Steinfeld). While Jinx lives in the technologically advanced Piltover, Vi comes from the crime-ridden city of Zaun. The sisters find themselves on opposing sides of a brewing war.

Dropped by the streamer on Thursday, the two-minute-20-second-long trailer picks up after Jinx’s attack on Piltover council at the end of the first season. It shows Vi gearing up to take down Jinx with a squad of Enforcers led by Caitlyn Kiramman, a noblewoman of Piltover. Following scenes of Vi experiencing emotional breakdowns, the video shows Noxian warlord Ambessa Medarda establishing martial law.

Meanwhile, after completely destroying Vi’s Piltover council, Jinx has emerged as a symbol of hope and uprising in Zaun. The trailer ends with high-octane action scenes, culminating in an intense moment of Jinx challenging Vi and Caitlyn to stop her.

The final season of Arcane is slated to hit Netflix in November.

“Arcane is just the beginning of our larger storytelling journey and partnership with the wonderful animation studio that is Fortiche,” Arcane co-creator Christian Linke said in a statement.

“From the very beginning, since we started working on this project, we had a very specific ending in mind, which means the story of Arcane wraps up with this second season. But Arcane is just the first of many stories that we want to tell in Runeterra,” he added.

While Ella Purnell has voiced Jinx in Arcane, Hailee Steinfeld has lent her voice to Vi. Apart from Jinx and Vi, Arcane also has the game characters Caitlyn (Elsa Davoine), Ekko (Reed Shannon), Jayce (Kevin Alejandro), Singed (Brett Tucker), Heimerdinger (Mick Wingert), and Viktor (Harry Lloyd).

Adapted from Riot Games’s MOBA game League of Legends, Arcane is created by animation studio Fortiche. In the series, characters like Vi, Jinx, Jayce and Viktor have been depicted with rich, detailed histories and emotional arcs that go beyond their in-game personas.

Since its release in 2009, League of Legends has become one of the most popular games. Players assume the role of champions and engage in team-based combat with the goal of destroying the opposing team’s Nexus.
