Apple TV+ legal thriller drama Presumed Innocent starring Jake Gyllenhaal will return for next season IMDB

Apple TV+ legal thriller drama Presumed Innocent starring Jake Gyllenhaal is set to return with Season 2, announced the streamer on Friday. Gyllenhaal will also serve as an executive producer of the show.

“New season. New case. Presumed Innocent has been renewed for season 2,” posted Apple TV+ on its official Instagram handle.

Initially announced as an eight-part limited series, Presumed Innocent will now transition into an ongoing drama. It will join the ranks of Downton Abbey, Big Little Lies, Shōgun, and Dr. Death, all of which have been made into ongoing shows after being announced as limited series.

Based on Scott Turow’s 1987 novel of the same name, Presumed Innocent tells the story of Rusty Sabich (Gyllenhaal), the chief deputy prosecutor in Chicago. Rusty’s life is thrown into turmoil when his colleague and former mistress Carolyn Polhemus (Renate Reinsve) is found murdered. The situation worsens Rusty is named as the prime suspect, forcing his wife and their children to confront his infidelity.

The series also stars Ruth Negga, Bill Camp, Peter Sarsgaard, and O-T Fagbenle in pivotal roles.

Presumed Innocent Season 1 is now streaming on Apple TV+, with new episodes dropping every Wednesday. Fans will have to wait until the season finale, set to stream on July 26, to discover whether there would be a twist in the tail of the story, much like the one shown in the 1990 film adaptation starring Harrison Ford.
