Popular television actor Nitesh Pandey was found dead at a hotel in Nashik, Maharashtra, on Wednesday, news agency ANI has reported.
According to reports, the cause of death seems to be a heart attack. “A Police team present at the hotel and investigation is underway. Postmortem report is awaited. Questioning of hotel staff and people close to him is being done,” ANI tweeted today.
A well-known face on TV, Nitesh, 50, was shooting at Igatpuri in Nashik. He began his acting career in theatre and got his first TV break with a show called Tejas in the 1990s.
Nitesh was also part of many iconic shows on television, including Manzilein Apani Apani, Saaya, Astitva... Ek Prem Kahani, Durgesh Nandini, Kuch Toh Log Kahenge and Justajoo. He was most recently seen on the popular show Anupamaa as Dheeraj Kapoor.
Apart from his TV work, Nitesh also acted in films like Om Shanti Om, Khosla Ka Ghosla, Shaadi Ke Side Effects, Rangoon and Badhaai Do.
Reacting to the news of Nitesh’s death, filmmaker Hansal Mehta tweeted, “Three young persons. Three actors. Passed away in a span of 3-4 days. Rest In Peace dear colleagues. This is such an unkind time. Prayers with their grieving families.”
Actor Deven Bhojani was in shock at the news of Pandey’s demise. “This can’t be true but it is. Friend, colleague and a talented actor Nitesh Pandey dies of cardiac arrest at 2am today in Igatpuri. Rest in peace Nitesh 🙏🏻,” he wrote on Twitter.
“Sad to know about the sudden demise of Nitesh Pandey a brilliant actor and a fun loving person due to cardiac arrest at Igatpuri . s demise is a great loss to the film and Tv industry. My heartfelt condolences to his entire family and near ones. Om shanti.🙏,” filmmaker Ashoke Pandit posted on social media.
