When it comes to Halloween costumes, nobody goes all-out or does it better than Hollywood celebs. From Anne Hathaway decked up as Zombie Lady Liberty to Selena Gomez stepping into the shoes of Alice with her boyfriend Benny Blanco as the Mad Hatter, many Hollywood’s biggies have already taken the spooky season by storm this year. As the leaves turn brown, the whiff of pumpkin spice lattes fill the air, and we wait for more spine-chilling looks to drop, here’s a look at some of the pop culture-inspired celeb costumes already doing the rounds.
Anne Hathaway went all out for Halloween this year, as she transformed into a zombie version of Lady Liberty. Dressing up in a Statue of Liberty headpiece and a “Boo York City” t-shirt, The Idea of You actress gave off post-apocalyptic vibes. She completed the look with bold, eerie makeup featuring a ghastly white painted face, dark, hollow eyes, blood-red lips, and bat-shaped glasses — creating a “zombified” effect.

Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco took on a Tim-Burton turn with their Alice in Wonderland-look this Halloween. Selena, dressed as Alice, gave off gothic vibes in a gauzy blue-grey dress. Her blonde wig, styled in soft tresses with a black headband, complemented her smokey eyes and added a touch of whimsy. Benny, on the other hand, fully embraced the red frizzy-haired, oversized top hat-wearing eccentricity of Johnny Depp’s Mad Hatter.
“Red or blue pill?” Sophie Turner asked, as she channelled Neo-Trinity vibes from The Matrix — paying a tribute to the 90s cult classic. She went for a futuristic, cyberpunk look in a sleek, skin-tight leather bodysuit, with her hands on fake guns in holders at her waist.
Remember Milla Jovovich’s “big bada boom” scene with Bruce Willis from The Fifth Element? Rapper Ice Spice recreated Leeloo’s look from the hit 90s film as she went out with her friends to celebrate the spooky season.
Halle Berry decked up as a witch in a blue slit-gown and a pointed hat, with her cat Coco in her arms, proving that she’s quite the Catwoman even after 20 years. “No need for tricks when me and my little black kitty are the treat! Happy International Black Cat Day y'all,” she captioned her pictures.
Singer G-Eazy took a trip down memory lane and celebrated Halloween early by dressing up as Harry Potter. Completing his “Gerry Potter” look were Harry’s signature glasses, lightning scar and a Gryffindor tie worn over a grey sweater, black pants and a cape.
Lizzo took a humorous spin on a recent South Park episode titled ‘The End of Obesity’, which showed the mothers of Stan and Kyle discussing weight loss alternatives and referring to the rapper’s weight loss for Halloween with the help of the drug Ozempic. The Pink singer addressed the show’s criticism by dressing up as a fictional Ozempic alternative, whose side effects include “a smile on your face and a pep in your step”.
As we wait for our other Halloween regulars, such as the Kardashian family, Ariana Grande, Halsey, Adele and Hailey Bieber, to share their spooky looks for this season, don’t forget to lao check out Dylan Sprouse’s Phantom of the Opera costume, My Life With the Walter Boys trio’s take on the Challengers, and Ozzy Osbourne’s uncanny pose as a vampire.
