Why the name Prem Tame?

It’s like some people say in Bengali that ‘ora prem-tem korchhey’ (they are in love). In Bengali that is how we talk colloquially, ‘prem tem’, ‘bhalobasha-tasha’. It is a college love story and there is a sense of casualness to it. And there are some love stories where there is an idea of being tamed, so instead of the colloquial term ‘prem tem’, we have named it Prem Tame.

What is the story about?

It is a love triangle between college students. It shows the kind of relationships that happen in colleges, where people fall in love, they break up and then they move on and fall in love again. The protagonist here doesn’t know what to do with his life and he is very confused. The story unfolds around that confusion.

You often tend to cast fresh faces in your films...

The story is based on a college love story, which is why I am working with newcomers. For this story it is easier for me to work with newcomers and it will also be easy for the audience to accept the story with fresh faces playing the characters.

Tell us about the cast...

Soumya Mukherjee is playing the lead character named Pablo. He has a dream of becoming a poet one day but no one is publishing his poems. Sweta is playing the role of Arshi, who is a very sweet girl but whines a lot. She cries very easily almost at every word. Sushmita is playing the character of Raji who is a little tomboyish and very adventurous in life. Since the story is set in the suburbs, we are shooting mainly along the Serampore-Chandernagore belt.
