After starring in the successful web series Break Up Story, Anindita Bose and boyfriend Saurav Das have come together in a music video for the song Waqt. The song has been sung and composed by Roney Guha. The teaser to the video dropped on Valentine’s Day. A chat with Anindita...

How is the response till now?

Overwhelming. People always expect to see different things from us and we make sure we deliver as expected. The song is called Waqt and the theme is, of course, ‘love’. Sometimes when you start taking your partner for granted, it is only time apart that makes you realise their value (the teaser caption reads: ‘With the uncertainties that lie between love and separation, there are moments which make you look back, time and time again’). The music video drops on February 28.

How did you spend V-Day in Bombay?

It was a working V-Day for me. Flew down to Bombay and dubbed the whole day for an upcoming project. And had a quiet dinner with my parents.

What does Valentine’s Day mean to you?

As a child it was just another day. In college I realised how lonely I was... ’cause I never had a date on this special day. But now, every time that Saurav gives me a surprise, or buys me a gift or just makes some cute gestures turns out to be my V-Day.

Do you have a special V-Day memory?

My sister and I both were single on V-Day, so we decided to be each other’s date. We went on a burger date, then bought each other cards and souvenirs. We laugh about it, but secretly we both know it was the best date ever.

How does the sense of romanticism come through for both of you? How romantic are the two of you?

Saurav is extremely romantic, whereas I am not. The fact that he constantly supports what I’m trying to achieve in another city, never complains or whines about the distance or time spent apart, or the sheer respect for me and my dreams, is his most romantic gesture. I feel lucky.

What are the main challenges when both of you stay apart, in different cities, for work?

We live in a digital world now. So challenges are definitely fewer. But, of course, I miss the hugs, or cuddling up on the sofa while watching a show or impromptu midnight ice-cream drives.

The video shows a couple having this breakdown after a fight. In real life, how do the two of you deal with it, with arguments, fights, misunderstandings?

We give each other breathing space, and time to cool down, introspect and then we talk. Communication is the main key.

Who stays calm? Who tries to reason it out?

Hahahaha, I’m the one who blasts off and he calms me down.

How was the vibe on the set like?

Shooting was fun... known location, known co-actor! This is my first music video with Saurav, so that’s exciting. The vibe was extremely chilled.

The shoot was done in your new house. How challenging was it?

It was quite challenging and terrifying for me to be honest... constantly checking that no one has scratched my floor or ceiling. I am very Monica when it comes to keeping my house neat and clean.... Also making sure we had a crew of just six-eight people on set and maintaining all sanitisation protocols.

What did you keep in mind when planning the interior of your new house?

This house is 200 per cent Saurav. All I had suggested was the colour scheme.

I was so busy in Bombay with my previous commitments, it was all him, from choosing wall textures to tiles, to the size of our bed or how our walk-in closet will look. Saurav wanted our house to feel warm and grounded.

As actors, how has the understanding grown between the two of you? From Guti Malhar to the new video....

Saurav and I, of course, have a better understanding of what our audiences expect from us, and that is exactly what we want to deliver each time we work together on a project. The same us, but in a different packaging. Saurav is method and I am spontaneous. I’m dependant on my surroundings, set and my co-actors. He likes to live with his characters for days and months, whereas I snap in and out.

What are your work plans for 2021?

There is a lot happening this year for me. Just finished one project today. Simultaneously shooting for two more projects in Bombay.
