Anime series Demon Slayer Season 4, Jujutsu Kaisen Season 1 and Kaiju No. 8 have made it to Netflix’s Global Top 10 non-English chart based on statistics recorded between June 10 to 16, the streamer announced on Thursday.
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, which is currently covering the Hashira Training Arc of Koyoharu Gotouge’s manga, featured at the fourth position with 1.5 million views and 3.5 million watch hours. The shounen action fantasy series has maintained its rank among the Top 10 chart in the same category for five consecutive weeks.
In the latest instalment, Tanjiro, Inosuke and Zenitsu joined the elite group of demon slayers — known as Hashira — to combat demon king Muzan and restore peace to the world.
So far, Tanjiro has finished his training with all the Hashira, and is gearing up for an ultimate showdown with Muzan. The makers have recently announced that the last two episodes of the fourth season, slated to air this week and the next, will run for 40 minutes and one hour, respectively.
Even though the second season of Jujutsu Kaisen came out last year, fans could not stop getting back to the first season on Netflix which introduced the dark world of cursed spirits and sorcerers. With 7 million views, the first season of the supernatural anime series was ranked ninth on the list.
Jujutsu Kaisen revolves around Yuji Itadori, a high school student who gets entangled in a world of cursed spirits and sorcerers after becoming the host for the ‘king of curses’ Sukuna while trying to save his classmate. The second season, which covered the story’s Shibuya arc, was one of the most hyped anime sequels of 2023. The series has been renewed for a third season, which will unravel the Culling Games Arc.
Rounding off the chart is the recently-released Kaiju No. 8, which has already emerged as a fan-favourite series. Based on the shounen manga created by Naoya Matsumoto, the show’s first season garnered a total of 7 million views and 2.6 million watch hours on Netflix.
Kaiju No. 8 follows a middle-aged man Kafka Hibino who had made a promise to his friend Mina Ashiro as a child to protect humanity from kaiju (giant monsters). But after life takes the two friends on different paths, Kafka loses faith in his abilities. However, an encounter with Reno Ichikawa reignites his childhood promise and his battle-spirit. Things escalate soon after he turns into a kaiju himself and is forced to hide his identity from Mina’s Defence Force while being enlisted in the team.
The eleventh episode of Kaiju No. 8 is slated to premiere on Saturday. However, in India, the anime series is streaming on Crunchyroll instead of Netflix.
