Anime film The Colors Within, directed by A Silent Voice helmer Naoko Yamada, is set to hit Indian theatres on November 22, Warner Bros. India announced on Friday.
“Watch how every colour tells a story, and how every encounter changes Totsuko's world. Emotions come alive in ways you’ve never imagined! ✨ From the director of 'A Silent Voice', Naoko Yamada, comes #TheColorsWithin. Releasing in cinemas in India on November 22 in Japanese with English subtitles,” Warner Bros. India wrote alongside a poster of the upcoming film.
A trailer of the film was also dropped by the entertainment company, offering a glimpse into the vibrant world of the anime. The story follows high schooler Totsuko, who has the ability to see the colours of people’s emotions. She is particularly intrigued by the colour she sees in her classmate Kimi.
When Kimi asks Totsuko to join her newly-formed band with her friend Rui, Totsuko agrees, leading to the trio working on their music and finding solace in each other. At the end of the trailer, Totsuko wonders what colour her emotions are, making for a poignant moment.
Directed by Naoko Yamada and produced by Science Saru, The Colors Within was released in Japanese theatres in August. While Sayu Suzukawa has voiced Totsuki, Akari Takaishi has lent her voice to Kimi. The voice cast also includes Taisei Kido as Rui, Yui Aragaki as Sister Hiyoshiko, Aoi Yūki as Sister Nanakubo, Yasuko as Saku Momochi, Minako Kotobuki as Sumika Yatsushika and Keiko Toda as Shino Sakunaga.
The Colors Within premiered at Annecy International Animation Film Festival in June. It won the Golden Goblet Award for best animation at the 2024 Shanghai International Film Festival. At the 7th Animation Is Film Festival, the film tied with Memoir of a Snail for the audience award.
