Animal stars Bobby Deol, Triptii Dimri and Rashmika Mandanna, along with director Sandeep Reddy Vanga, marked one year of the film on Sunday by sharing heartfelt notes and behind-the-scenes pictures on social media.
Directed by Vanga, the drama film starring Ranbir Kapoor in the lead role, hit theatres on December 1 last year. Bobby, who played the antagonist Abrar, penned a note on Instagram to thank fans for their love towards his character. Triptii and Sandeep, on the other hand, shared behind-the-scenes glimpses to mark the anniversary.
“Celebrating one year of #animal ! Abrar’s journey brought me closer to all of you and gave me more than I could’ve ever imagined—love, blessings, and opportunities. Thank you for making this one so special for me,” the 55-year-old actor wrote alongside stills from the popular Jamal Kudu sequence of the film.
“Seems like yesterday,” Triptii captioned a series of behind-the-scenes pictures from the sets of the film. The Instagram carousel carried mirror selfies, recording footage and pictures featuring Triptii’s reading sessions in between filming.
Rashmika, who played Ranbir’s on-screen wife in Animal, took to X and expressed gratitude to Vanga for giving her the opportunity to be a part of the film. “And I Thank YOU @imvangasandeep ❤️❤️ for making me a part of this phenomenon called #Animal .. 🤗🤗❤️,” the actress, who is set to star in Pushpa 2: The Rule alongside Allu Arjun, wrote.
Vanga dropped a monochrome BTS picture of Ranbir and Bobby from the sets of the film. In the shot, the actors are shirtless as they lie down on a field surrounded by trees. While Ranbir holds his phone to show something to Bobby, the latter covers the screen with his palms to block the sunlight.
“One year for ANIMAL 💥,” the filmmaker captioned the photo.
Animal revolves around Ranbir’s obsessive devotion for his father, played by Anil Kapoor, stemming from the latter’s absence in his childhood. As an adult, Ranbir turns into a vicious man with flowing hair and murderous eyes, determined to protect his father at all costs.
Following its release, the film faced flak for its alleged portrayal of toxic masculinity and misogyny.
