Gadar 2 director Anil Sharma has revealed that he opted for minimal VFX usage for the fight scenes in the Sunny Deol-starrer, promising an array of action sequences that prioritise genuine stunts over visual effects.
“During the making of Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, we meticulously choreographed real-life action scenes to deliver an authentic experience that was embraced by the audience. With Gadar 2, we were committed to preserving that same level of authenticity. The film boasts of real action scenes and not just VFX,” he said.
Citing Hollywood’s preference for genuine action scenes over computer-generated sequences, the filmmaker said he, too, wanted to keep things real in the upcoming actioner. “Look at some of Tom Cruise’s stunts in the Mission Impossible series or Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer. Even in the US, artists are striving to keep things real and that’s what I wanted to do.”
Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel return in Gadar 2 to portray their iconic characters from the 2001 film Gadar - Ek Prem Katha. Sunny's character, Tara Singh, embarks on a mission to Pakistan to rescue his son, who has been taken captive by a vengeful Pakistani army general. The film also features Utkarsh Sharma, Simrat Kaur, Manish Wadhwa and Gaurav Chopra in key roles.
Gadar 2 is slated to arrive in cinemas on August 11.
