Actress Ananya Panday motivates the girl gang from the upcoming Amazon Prime Video series Big Girls Don’t Cry — Avantika Vandanapu, Lhakyila, Afrah Sayed, Aneet Padda, Akshita Sood, Vidushi and Dalai Tenzin Lhakyila — to act confident while delivering their lines in a new promo video of the show, dropped by the streamer on Thursday.
“The squad is ready for you, dive right into all the shades of sisterhood, growing up and finding yourself,” Prime Video wrote alongside the video shared on Instagram.
Dressed in a grey sweater and blue jeans, Ananya kicks off the video by choreographing the poses and movements of the girls, who play students at Vandana Valley all-girls boarding school in the series. Emphasising the importance of wearing a wide smile on their faces, Ananya stands behind the camera and records their promotional video.
Throughout the video, Ananya supervises the girls’ lines and body language and recommends ways to appear confident. As the girls fumble with words to say the correct title of the series, Ananya is on the verge of giving up.
Right then, Avantika takes an attempt to promote their series with the right words. “If you’ve ever been to a school, if you’ve ever had a heartbreak,” she begins, followed by Vidushi saying, “As a grown up, if you’ve actually cried, then watch our show only on Amazon Prime.”
Their words move Ananya, who tells them that their performance was heartfelt. “So, let these badass girls take over your hearts and screens in this heartfelt tale of boarding school drama, sisterhood and a whole lot of mush. You should watch this with your squad because I am,” the Kho Gaye Hum Kahan actress signs off.
Big Girls Don’t Cry, directed by Nitya Mehra, Karan Kapadia, Kopal Naithani and Sudhanshu Saria, revolves around students at Vandana Valley all-girls boarding school who navigate romance, friendship and challenges on their way to adulthood while being under the watchful eyes of their authoritarian principal, played by Pooja Bhatt.
