A moment from Kalponik

In the film Kalponik — Myth and Pieces, ancient legends and modern realities interweave in a haunting exploration of truth and power. The story unfolds across two settings: Chakrapanipur, a once-glorious town now fading into obscurity, and Asaru, an enigmatic village that guards its secrets closely.

Here we meet Maithili, a journalist whose unwavering commitment to truth has left her an outcast from mainstream media. What begins as her investigation into a mysterious ancient temple transforms into something far more sinister when she stumbles upon the murder of Debari Rakshit, a retired professor whose past is as complex as the myths he studied.

As Maithili peels back layers of deception, she discovers a dangerous tapestry of political machinations where ancient beliefs become weapons in modern warfare. Kalponik examines the price one pays when sacred beliefs become political currency, and the line between myth and reality dissolves in the face of human ambition.

Starring Rajatava Datta, Satakshi Nandy, Sahidur Rahaman and Sayan Ghosh, the film is written and directed by Arka Mukhopadhyay. Kalponik is produced by Arka Mukhopadhyay, Amrita Chakraborti and Fables Cradle. Neil Mukherjee has composed the music.

Kalponik will be screened at Nazrul Tirtha 2 on December 10 at 5pm as part of the 30th Kolkata International Film Festival.
