Amitabh Bachchan suffered a muscle tear to his right rib cage and popped his rib cartilage while shooting an action sequence for the science fiction film Project K in Hyderabad, the 80-year-old actor revealed in a blog post on Sunday night.
The veteran actor was immediately rushed to a private hospital in Hyderabad for treatment and then flown back home to Mumbai, where he is now recovering.
“In Hyderabad at the shoot for Project K, during an action shot, I have got injured .. rib cartilage popped broke and muscle tear to the right rib cage.. canceled shoot.. did Doctor consult and scan by CT at the AIG Hospital in Hyderabad and flown back home .. strapping has been done and rest been advocated,” Bachchan wrote on Tumblr.
“Yes painful .. on movement and breathing .. will take some weeks they say before some normalisation will occur .. some medication is on also for pain .. I rest at Jalsa and am mobile a bit for all the essential activities .. but yes in rest and generally lying around ..,” the veteran actor wrote.
It will take him some weeks before “normalisation will occur”, he added.
As of now, the legendary actor has suspended and cancelled, dropped, postponed “all work that was to be done”. He also apologised to his fans in advance for not being able to meet all those who would gather at the Jalsa Gate on Sunday evening as part of his weekly routine.
Written and directed by Nag Ashwin, Project K is an upcoming film that also stars Prabhas and Deepika Padukone.
