Veteran actors Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth, who are reuniting after 33 years for T.J. Gnanavel’s Vettaiyan, appeared together in fresh behind-the-scenes photos dropped by the makers of the upcoming film on Friday.
“The Titans of Indian Cinema! Superstar @rajinikanth and Shahenshah @SrBachchan grace the sets of Vettaiyan in Mumbai, with their unmatched charisma,” Lyca Productions wrote alongside the pictures shared on X (formerly Twitter).
The first picture is a monochrome one which shows the two actors sporting suits and posing for the camera. Bachchan hugs Rajinikanth, making him smile heartily in the next picture. The two actors were deeply engrossed in a conversation in the third photo.
Bachchan and Rajinikanth collaborated on the 1991 movie Hum, directed by Mukul S. Anand. Vettaiyan marks the Jailer star’s 170th film and the Piku star’s Tamil debut.
Bachchan took to his Instagram on Saturday and shared his thoughts about reuniting with his Hum co-star after 33 years. “Am honoured and privileged to be with the Thala the Great Rajni again .. he hasn’t changed at all .. the same simple humble down to earth friend despite his stratospheric greatness,” he wrote.
In April, the makers shared a fresh poster of the film featuring Rajinikanth. “To all the Thalaivar fans & Design enthusiasts. Here's the clean version of VETTAIYAN. Release announcement poster,” they wrote on X.
The poster shows Rajinikanth sporting black sunglasses and a blue shirt. He points a gun at somebody and smiles confidently. The actor was last seen in his daughter Aishwarya’s directorial Lal Salaam in an extended cameo role.
Also starring Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Ritika Singh, Manju Warrier, and Dushara Vijayan, Vettaiyan is slated to release in October.
