Streaming platform Amazon Prime Video on Monday teased the premiere date announcement of the much-awaited third season of comedy-drama series Panchayat.
“Just a little more wait till you find out Panchayat’s new season’s date,” the streamer wrote alongside a video, asking fans to stay tuned.
The video begins with someone opening a refrigerator that has a tempting note stuck on it. “Do not open. Panchayat 3 date inside,” warns the said piece of paper. However, it is soon revealed to be a prank as the refrigerator is stuffed with bottle gourds and contains three more notes. “Try kar liya (Did you try)?” taunts the first, while the second asks the viewers, “Itna simple hai kya (Is it so simple)?” The final note urges fans to stay tuned.
The streamer had previously dropped stills from the sets of the show’s upcoming instalment. The first photo featured actor Jitendra Kumar on a bicycle. The other photo featured Ashok Pathak, Durgesh Kumar and Faisal Malik as Vinod, Bhushan and Prahlad, respectively, from the series.
“We know the wait is unbearable, so we got you a lil something from the sets,” the makers had captioned their post on Instagram.
Also featuring Raghubir Yadav and Neena Gupta in pivotal roles, TVF’s Panchayat won the inaugural Best Web Series (OTT) Award at the 54th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in November last year.
The series follows the journey of Abhishek Tripathi, played by Jitendra Kumar, whose aspirations of pursuing an MBA take an unexpected turn when he becomes the panchayat secretary in a remote village of Uttar Pradesh.
Panchayat Season 2 premiered on Amazon Prime Video in May 2022.
