One Hundred Years of Solitude

Netflix has shared a special announcement video of its upcoming series One Hundred Years of Solitude based on the acclaimed novel of the same name by Colombian author Gabriel García Márquez. The series will be directed by Alex García López and Laura Mora.

The short video gives us a glimpse of the production team working on the first adaptation of the celebrated novel. In keeping with the novel, the show will cover the multi-generational story of the Buendía family, whose patriarch, José Arcadio Buendía, founded the fictitious town of Macondo.

Alone

Malayalam star Mohanlal has unveiled the teaser of his upcoming movie Alone. Directed by Shaji Kailas, this film marks the reunion of Mohanlal and Shaji after a gap of 12 years. The actor-director duo had earlier delivered hits like Aaram Thamburan and Narasimham.

The trailer begins with an image of Mohanlal seen through a keyhole. He is wearing a see-through mask as he introduces himself as Kalidasan. He also suggests his various other preferred names. Staying true to the title, we don’t see any other person in the teaser, besides Kalidasan.

Jhansi

Disney+ Hotstar has dropped the trailer of the upcoming Hotstar special Jhansi. Headlined by Telugu actress Anjali, the action thriller also features Chandini Chowdary, Adarsh Balakrishna, Raj Arun and Samyukta Hornad among others.

The trailer shows Anjali as a skilled warrior as she single-handedly takes on several people at once. She is protecting her loving family from the demons from her past. It is implied that she was involved with the underworld and now those people are hunting her.

Jhansi will stream on Disney+ Hotstar from October 27.

Rio Ferdinand’s Tipping Point

The trailer of the three-part Amazon Prime Sports docu-series Rio Ferdinand’s Tipping Point, headlined by former England and Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand, has come out. The series will explore the key issues impacting the beautiful game today.

In the trailer, Rio looks into racism, sexuality and mental Health in the world of football. From his own experiences and biases, the former defender seeks solutions to weed out the problems plaguing high-level and grassroots football.

Rio Ferdinand’s Tipping Point will arrive on Amazon Prime Video on November 11.

Mahishasur Marddini

The trailer of writer-director Ranjan Ghosh’s upcoming thriller film Mahishashur Marddini trailer has been released. Starring Rituparna Sengupta, Saswata Chatterjee and Parambrata Chatterjee in lead roles, the film focuses on the trials and tribulations faced by women in all spheres of life.

The two-minute-long trailer showcases how women still get abused in the current social structure. The story deals with a brutal gang-rape of a 100-year-old deaf-and-mute girl a night before Durga Puja. The film also features Koushik Kar, Shaheb Bhattacherjee, Poulomi Das, Sritama Dey, Arunima Halder, Abhyuday Dey and Aryuun Ghosh.
