Allu Arjun-starrer Pushpa 2: The Rule has emerged as the fastest film to cross the Rs 900-crore mark at the Indian box office, achieving the feat in just 11 days, according to latest trade reports.
Pushpa 2 collected Rs 725.8 crore nett in its opening week in India. In its second weekend, it earned Rs 36.4 crore nett on Friday, Rs 63.3 crore nett on Saturday, and Rs 75 crore nett on Sunday. This brought the total domestic box office collections to Rs 900.5 crore nett, as per industry data-tracking portal Sacnilk.
The Hindi version of the Sukumar directorial contributed the biggest share to the domestic collections (Rs 553.1 crore nett), followed by the Telugu version (Rs 279.35 crore nett). The Tamil version contributed Rs 48.1 crore nett, followed by the Malayalam version (Rs 13.4 crore nett). The Kannada version amassed Rs 6.55 crore nett.
The Hindi version of Pushpa 2 has set a new benchmark, becoming the fastest Hindi film to cross the Rs 500-crore milestone, breaking previous records held by Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan (13 days).
The Allu Arjun-starrer has been performing well internationally too, having amassed Rs 1,292 crore gross in 10 days. It is now the third highest-grossing film of all time, sitting behind Aamir Khan’s Dangal (Rs 2,070 crore gross) and Prabhas’ Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (Rs 1,788 crore gross).
Pushpa 2: The Rule focuses on red sandalwood smuggler Pushpa’s (Allu Arjun) efforts to build his empire while facing a fierce adversary in cop Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat (Fahadh Faasil). Starring Rashmika Mandanna, Jagapathi Babu and Rao Ramesh in pivotal roles, the film’s climax sets the stage for a third installment, Pushpa 3: The Rampage.
