Allu Arjun-starrer Pushpa 2: The Rule has taken the global box office by storm, crossing the monumental Rs 1000-crore mark in just six days. Directed by Sukumar and starring Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil, the film has broken the record previously held by S.S. Rajamouli-directed Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, which achieved the feat in 10 days.
For perspective, other cinematic blockbusters such as RRR, KGF: Chapter 2, and Kalki 2898 AD reached the Rs 1000 crore mark in 16 days, while Jawan and Pathaan needed 18 and 27 days, respectively.
Pushpa 2 opened to a massive worldwide collection of Rs 294 crore on its first day, the highest opening day collection for any Indian film. Since then, it has broken several box office records.
Pushpa 2 emerged as the fastest Indian film to cross the Rs 100-crore mark, Rs 200-crore mark, Rs 300-crore milestone, Rs 400-crore mark, Rs 500-crore milestone and Rs 600-crore mark at the domestic box office.
It has also emerged as the highest-grossing Indian film of all time domestically, breaking the record held by Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan (Rs 640 crore nett). As per Sacnilk.com, Pushpa 2 has amassed Rs 645.95 crore net in India so far.
The Hindi-dubbed version of Pushpa 2 also scripted history by emerging as the fastest Hindi film to enter the Rs 300-crore club in five days. Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan took six days to achieve this feat.
Allu Arjun reprises his role as Pushpa Raj, a red sandalwood smuggler who is focussed on expanding his empire while battling challenges from his adversary, a cop played by Fahadh Faasil. Rashmika Mandanna reprises her role as Pushpa’s wife Srivalli in this sequel.
