Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2 beats Prabhas-starrer Kalki 2898 AD, becomes highest-grossing Indian film of 2024

Directed by Sukumar, the sequel to the 2021 blockbuster Pushpa: The Rise has amassed Rs 1,060 crore gross worldwide in eight days

Allu Arjun-starrer Pushpa 2: The Rule has surpassed Prabhas-starrer Kalki 2898 AD to become the highest-grossing Indian film of 2024. According to industry data-tracking portal Sacnilk, Pushpa 2 has grossed approximately Rs 1,060 crore globally in its extended eight-day opening week, crossing the lifetime global earnings of Kalki 2898 AD, which stands at Rs 1,042 crore gross.

Pushpa 2 has collected a staggering Rs 867 crore gross from India alone, while Kalki minted Rs 767 crore gross domestically. While Kalki remains the highest Indian grosser overseas with Rs 275 crore gross, the domestic dominance of Pushpa 2 has tilted the scales in its favour.

Pushpa 2 has also surpassed Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan (Rs 1,055 crore gross) to become the sixth highest-grossing Indian movie of all time. The film is poised to outpace Shah Rukh’s Jawan (Rs 1,160 crore gross) and could soon topple KGF: Chapter 2 (Rs 1,215 crore gross) and RRR (Rs 1,230 crore gross) to claim the third spot on the all-time highest grosser list.

The top two slots remain occupied by Aamir Khan’s Dangal (Rs 2,070 crore gross) and Prabhas’ Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (Rs 1,788 crore gross).

Pushpa 2’s domestic box office journey has been nothing short of extraordinary. After collecting Rs 725.8 crore nett in its first week, it continued its dream run into the second weekend. On its second Friday, the Allu Arjun-starrer earned Rs 36.25 crore nett in India, bringing its total domestic net earnings to Rs 762.1 crore nett.

Directed by Sukumar, Pushpa 2: The Rule stars Rashmika Mandanna, Fahadh Faasil, Jagapathi Babu, Jagadeesh Prathap Bandari and Rao Ramesh in key roles.
