Allu Arjun-starrer Pushpa 2: The Rule has crossed the Rs 400-crore mark globally in just two days, becoming the fastest Indian film to reach the milestone, as per industry data-tracking portal Sacnilk.
The worldwide earnings for Pushpa 2 was Rs 294 crore gross at the end of Day 1, which made it the biggest opener of all time in India.
Domestically, the sequel to the 2021 blockbuster opened with a staggering Rs 174.9 crore nett on its first day across all languages, followed by another Rs 90.10 crore nett on Day 2. This brings the total domestic collection to an extraordinary Rs 265 crore nett in just two days, according to Sacnilk.
The Hindi version of Pushpa 2 was the highest contributor to the collections, amassing Rs 125 crore nett, followed by Rs 118.03 crore nett from the Telugu version. The Tamil version contributed Rs 13.2 crore nett while the Kannada version minted Rs 1.6 crore nett. The Malayalam version contributed Rs 6.85 crore nett to the collections.
Pushpa 2 has already set a new benchmark for Hindi cinema, achieving the highest-ever opening day earnings (Rs 72 crore nett) for a Hindi-dubbed film. It surpassed the collections of Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Jawan, which previously held the record with Rs 65.5 crore nett on its opening day.
Directed by Sukumar, the sequel follows the journey of Pushpa Raj, a sandalwood smuggler facing off against a cop (played by Fahadh Faasil). The cast includes Rashmika Mandanna, Jagapathi Babu, Anasuya Bharadwaj and Rao Ramesh in pivotal roles.
Pushpa: The Rise, which released during the pandemic in 2021, was a global hit, collecting Rs 326.6 crore gross worldwide and earning Allu Arjun a National Award for Best Actor.
