Payal Kapadia’s Cannes winner All We Imagine As Light has bagged two nominations — best direction and best international feature — at the 2024 Gotham Awards, to be held on December 2 at Cipriani Wall Street in New York.
Neon’s Palme d’Or-winning film Anora, directed by Sean Baker, leads with four nominations, including best feature and best director. Actor Mikey Madison got a nod for outstanding lead performance, while Yura Borisov was nominated for outstanding supporting performance.
Luca Guadagnino’s Challengers, distributed by Amazon MGM, joins Anora in the best feature category. Also from Amazon MGM, Nickel Boys, directed by RaMell Ross, has garnered three nominations: best feature, best director, and a breakthrough performer nod for Brandon Wilson. Amazon/MGM’s The Fire Inside earned Brian Tyree Henry a nomination for best supporting performance, with Ryan Destiny up for breakthrough performer, and Maisy Stella earning a nomination for My Old Ass in the same category.
Netflix’s His Three Daughters secured best director nomination for Azazel Jacobs. Natasha Lyonne and Danielle Deadwyler bagged nominations for outstanding supporting performances for their roles in The Piano Lesson. Meanwhile, Kieran Culkin landed a best supporting performer nod for his role in Searchlight Pictures’ A Real Pain, directed by Jesse Eisenberg.
Demi Moore was nominated for outstanding lead performance for her role in The Substance. Mubi’s Dahomey, directed by Mati Diop, is a contender for best documentary feature.
