Priyanka Mondal, Priyanka Bhattacharjee, Anuradha Mukherjee and Avery Singha Roy star in the new KLIKK original series Olokkhis in Goa. Written and directed by Joydip Banerjee, the series follows four childhood friends who go on a trip to Goa. Hoi is a journalist in one of the daily newspapers. Ronita is married to an eminent politician, and dreams of making it big in the political scenario. Barsha is a quirky school teacher while Titash, the sweetheart of the group, is a sales executive at a big store in the city. But not everything is perfect in their own personal lives.
“The basic premise is about four girls on a bachelor trip trying to dispose a dead body and in this very process they are transformed. They also rediscover their bond as they face their worst fears. So it’s like a female-bonding story told in a dark comic manner using the familiar genre tropes of bachelor party-gone-wrong movies. Everyone has put in their best efforts, and tried to contribute and innovate. This coming together has added a unique edge to the series, which makes it really special,” says Joydip.
A moment from the series
Goa as a location fitted in rather organically. “I still remember when we used to go for family trips in my childhood, my mother used to carry all her salwar kameezes which she would never wear in Calcutta. Twenty five years have passed and I still find my friends doing the same. This apparent change in Bengali middle-class women as they go out of the city and the letting go of at least some parts of their inhibitions, have always fascinated me. The smashing of female stereotypes, the uninhibited free soul... this thought sowed the seed of Olokkhis in Goa. I am really excited because it’s shaped up really well and will be releasing soon,” said Joydip.
