Actress Alia Bhatt made her MET Gala debut on Tuesday (IST) in a dreamy white gown designed by Nepalese-American fashion designer Prabal Gurung.
The exhibit event, themed ‘Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty’ to celebrate the legacy of the iconic Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld, was held in New York.
Alia took to Instagram to share photos from her first MET Gala and wrote a note describing her outfit which was inspired by Chanel's bridal couture.
"I have always been fascinated by the iconic Chanel brides. Season after season, the genius of Karl Lagerfeld shone through in the most innovative and awe-inspiring couture. My look tonight was inspired from this and in particular by supermodel Claudia Schiffer's 1992 Chanel bridal look," she wrote alongside her photos from the event.
Alia wore a sleeveless low-neck gown, made of 100,000 pearls and a flowing skirt. She accessorised her look with a single fingerless pearl embellished glove, silver and pearl jewelry and a pearl bow on her hair. The glove and the pearls were added to her look as a tribute to Lagerfeld, who had an affinity for both the elements.
The guest list of MET Gala 2023 also includes Priyanka Chopra, Natasha Poonawalla and Isha Ambani among other celebrities.
Alia is gearing up for her Hollywood debut with the upcoming Netflix film Heart of Stone, also starring Gal Gadot. The actress will also be seen in Karan Johar's Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahaani opposite Ranveer Singh this year.
