Actress Alia Bhatt and her elder sister Shaheen Bhatt celebrated the 76th birthday of their father Mahesh Bhatt on September 20 by sharing never-before-seen pictures with him on Instagram.
“Sometimes all you gotta do in life is show up. You always did and always do. Happy Birthday pops/g-pa. There’s no one like you,” wrote Alia, also wishing Mahesh on behalf of her one-year-old daughter Raha Bhatt Kapoor.
The actress shared a picture with her dad from the day of her Mehendi ceremony in 2022. She also shared another photo that shows them leaning against the wall.
Actress Bipasha Basu and journalist Barkha Dutt commented on Alia’s post, extending their wishes to Mahesh.
Shaheen also took to Instagram to wish her dad on his special day. Calling Mahesh her “favourite person”, Shaheen wrote, “Happy Birthday buddy boy. You’re my favourite person and you make everything better.”
One of the pictures shared by Shaheen shows her and Mahesh standing in front of a Christmas tree. The other is a candid shot of the father-daughter duo staring into each other’s eyes.
Shweta Bachchan and actress Sara Arfeen Khan reacted to the pictures. “Great pic! Best wishes,” reads the latter’s comment on Shaheen’s post.
Mahesh tied the knot with actress-director Soni Razdan in 1986. They welcomed their first child Shaheen Bhatt on November 28, 1988. Their second daughter Alia was born on March 15, 1993.
Mahesh recently hosted and produced the chat show Pehchaan: The Unscripted Show with Mahesh Bhatt (2023).
Alia is currently awaiting the release of Vasan Bala’s Jigra, which also stars The Archies actor Vedang Raina. Jigra is the third project under Alia’s home banner Eternal Sunshine Productions following Netflix’s 2022 dark comedy Darlings and the 2024 Amazon Prime Video crime-drama series Poacher. Shaheen is also credited as one of the producers on the upcoming film, slated to hit theatres on October 11.
Additionally, Alia is set to headline YRF Spy Universe’s first female-led film Alpha alongside Veda actress Sharvari Wagh.
Alia married actor Ranbir Kapoor on April 14, 2022, in Mumbai. Later that year, on November 6, the actress gave birth to their daughter Raha.
