Actor Ali Fazal recently admitted that playing Guddu Pandit in Mirzapur has left an indelible mark on his life and career ahead of the premiere of the third season of the crime thriller show on Amazon Prime Video.
Also starring Pankaj Tripathi and Shweta Tripathi Sharma, Mirzapur 3 will be streaming on Prime Video from July 5. Rasika Dugal, Vijay Varma, Harshita Gaur, Anjum Sharma, Priyanshu Painyuli and Isha Talwar will also reprise their roles in the upcoming season directed by Gurmeet Singh and Anand Iyer.
Calling Guddu an integral part of his life and performances, Fazal said the character managed to retain his innocence in the first two seasons of Mirzapur in spite of the pall of corruption all around him. “I don't know what Season 3 holds, but I know I have justified a graph for this particular boy. He becomes what he becomes because of social circumstances,” he added.
“Though the role has taken a lot out of me, I will always cherish it. Guddu is a character I don’t personally connect with, but I always tried to make sense of his character arc. You have to see the world from Guddu's perspective. His obsession with bodybuilding, his mania — all these are the effects of the trauma he has to face,” Fazal said.
Sharing the biggest challenge that he faced during the portrayal of Guddu, the Kandahar actor said, “I wanted to convey to the audience what a person in Guddu’s situation can go through.I think that was my biggest challenge — to be able to look at him without judgement.”
