Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan’s Bhooth Bangla to hit theatres in April 2026

Directed by Priyadarshan, the upcoming comedy horror film is produced by Shobha Kapoor and Ekta Kapoor

Bhooth Bangla, a comedy horror film which marks Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan’s reunion after 14 years, is set to hit theatres on April 2, 2026, Balaji Motion Pictures announced on Tuesday with a first-look poster.

“#BhoothBangla the date to experience this epic horror comedy on the big screen is 02/04/2026,” the makers wrote alongside the poster on Instagram, announcing that shooting for the film has begun.

In the poster, Akshay sports a white outfit paired with a blue coat. He can be seen perched on a pillar in front of a mansion with a lantern in his hand and gazing at something in the distance.

Bhooth Bangla is produced by Shobha Kapoor and Ekta Kapoor under the banner of Balaji Motion Pictures and Cape Of Good Films.

Co-produced by Faara Sheikh and Vedant Vikaas Baali, Bhooth Bangla is adapted from a screenplay by Rohan Shankar, Abilash Nair and Priyadarshan.

Akshay and Priyadarshan are known for collaborating on comedy films like Hera Pheri (2000), Bhagam Bhag (2006), Bhool Bhulaiyaa (2007), De Dana Dan (2009) and Khatta Meetha (2010).

Akshay will be next seen in Sandeep Kewlani and Abhishek Anil Kapur’s Sky Force, which also stars Nimrat Kaur and Sara Ali Khan. He will also feature in Housefull 5 alongside Riteish Deshmukh and Sanjay Dutt.

Akshay also has Hera Pheri 3 in the pipeline. Starring Akshay, Paresh Rawal and Suniel Shetty in lead roles, Hera Pheri became a cult classic, with the first film emerging as a sleeper hit and earning around Rs 18 crores worldwide. Its sequel, Phir Hera Pheri (2006), grossed approximately Rs 70 crore globally.
