Ajay Devgn and Tabu-starrer Bholaa witnessed a significant drop in earnings on its second day at the theatres, raking in Rs 7.40 crore nett, around Rs 3 crore less than its total Day 1 collection, box office records highlighted on Saturday.

The total collection of the film at the domestic box office now stands at Rs 18.60 crore nett.

As per Box Office India, Bholaa reported 11 per cent occupancy in theatres on Friday, witnessing a drop of approximately 35 per cent in the national chains compared to Day 1. The film is facing stiff competition at the box office from Nani’s pan-India release Dasara, which has already grossed Rs 38 crore worldwide.

Bholaa’s sub-par performance at the box office comes close on the heels of Ajay and Tabu’s previous release Drishyam 2, which had earned more than Rs 200 crore. The film’s earnings are expected to suffer over the weekend owing to the ongoing IPL 2023, say trade analysts.

Bholaa is a Hindi remake of Lokesh Kanagaraj’s 2019 Tamil hit Kaithi. Gajaraj Rao, Sanjay Mishra, Deepak Dobriyal and Vineet Kumar also feature in the action thriller in significant roles. The film revolves around Bholaa, a newly-released convict, who gets embroiled in a drug smuggling racket while transporting a truck full of poisoned police officers to hospital.
