Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn released the Hindi trailer for the Odia social drama Daman, starring Babushaan Mohanty, on January 13. The Hindi version will arrive in cinemas on February 3.

Daman is based on a true incident that traces the journey of Dr Siddharth Mohanty (Mohanty), a doctor posted in a remote tribal area in Odisha’s Malkangiri district. The movie showcases how the doctor spearheaded a drive to eradicate malaria in 151 villages of Janbai PHC in spite of many hurdles.

Written and directed by Vishal Mourya and Debi Prasad Lenka, Daman has been declared tax-free in Odisha since its release on November 4, 2022.

“Our film is a true-life story appreciated not only by the common man, but also Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik who believes it will inspire doctors and government officials in remote areas across the country to work selflessly and give an impetus to many such initiatives. Now Ajay sir supporting this small film with a big heart is really a sweet gesture,” said one of the directors.

“It is important to support inspirational stories like Daman to help support a national cause. Films like these are the need of the hour,” said Kumar Mangat Pathak, chairman, Panorama Studios, which has produced the film with Deependra Samal of JP Motion Pictures.

Produced by Kumar Mangat Pathak, Abhishek Pathak and Deependra Samal and co-produced by Murlidhar Chhatwani and Pinkis Pradhan, Daman also stars Dipanwit Dasmohapatra and many first-time actors from the tribal community.
