Abhishek retweeted Ajay’s response, hinting that he would be playing the antagonist's role in Bholaa 2. “Sequel? Sequel nahin, original bol… ORIGINAL!! Maut ka chehra badla hai… naam nahin!!!” the Manmarziyaan actor wrote, echoing his dialogue from the post-credit scene of Bholaa, where he makes a special appearance.

Bholaa is the Hindi adaptation of Lokesh Kanagaraj’s 2019 Tamil-language action film Kaithi, starring Karthi in the lead role. Released on March 30, Bholaa also stars Deepak Dobriyal, Sanjay Mishra, Gajraj Rao, Vineet Kumar and Amala Paul. The film received mixed reviews from the critics and so far grossed over Rs 70 crore at the global box office.

Ajay will next portray the role of former Indian national football team coach Syed Abdul Rahim in Amit Ravindernath Sharma’s biographical sports drama film Maidaan.
