Aftab Shivdasani has reunited with his Awara Paagal Deewana co-star Akshay Kumar for the latter’s upcoming film Welcome to the Jungle, the actor confirmed on Sunday with a set of goofy pictures of the duo and a shot of the clapperboard of the Ahmed Khan directorial.
The actors had previously worked together on Vikram Bhatt directorial, also starring Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal, in 2002.
“First Photo taken 16 years apart (2008 & 2024). As you can see, nothing has changed. Thank you ‘Awara’ for ‘welcome’-ing this ‘Deewana’ to this ‘Paagal’ Jungle,” Aftab wrote on Instagram alongside the pictures.
The first slide shows a collage of two pictures — a goofy picture of the duo from 2008 and another from the sets of Welcome to the Jungle. Yet another photo features the two actors twinning in black outfits and smiling for a selfie.
Fans were delighted at the news and flooded the comment section. “Arey Awaara Paagal Deewana 2 bana lo yaar (Please make Awaara Paagal Deewana 2,” wrote one of them, while another quoted the line “Chalo coffee peete hain” from the 2002 film.
Akshay was last seen in Ali Abbas Zafar’s Bade Miyan Chote Miyan alongside Tiger Shroff. He will be next seen in Mukesh Kumar’s fantasy-drama Kannappa. The Hera Pheri actor will also appear in Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again, Sudha Kongara’s Sarfira and Sky Force co-starring Sara Ali Khan.The actor has also filmed for C. Sankaran Nair’s Shankara starring R Madhavan and Ananya Panday. A third instalment of Hera Pheri is also in the pipeline for Akshay.
