Popular Indian singer and reality show host Aditya Narayan will lend his voice to the happy-go-lucky singing croc in Sony Pictures Entertainment’s much-awaited live-action CGI adaptation of the classic children’s book Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile.

Aditya’s voice will be heard in the Hindi version of the movie, while Shawn Mendes lends his voice of the singing croc in the English version of the live-action film.

Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile will be released across theatres in India on November 4 in English and Hindi.

“Voicing an animated singing character is wildly different from singing for a film or a music album. Here I needed to really understand the character as a three-dimensional being who feels and emotes. It was literally voice acting,” said Aditya.

Shony Panjikaran, general manager and head at Sony Pictures Releasing International, said they were delighted to welcome Aditya on board as the Indian voice for Lyle the singing crocodile. “When we heard Aditya singing to Lyle’s tunes, we knew it was the perfect fit — his voice conveys a certain sense of vulnerability that is the very essence of Lyle’s character,” he added.

Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile also stars Javier Bardem, Constance Wu, Scoot McNairy and child actor Winslow Fegley. The movie features original songs written by the renowned songwriting team behind The Greatest Showman, Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.
