Prabhas’s Raghava, Kriti Sanon’s Janki and Saif Ali Khan’s Lankesh bring the timeless tale of Ramayana to life in the VFX-heavy trailer of Om Raut’s fantasy action-adventure film Adipurush.

Dropped by T-Series on Tuesday, the three-minute-19-second-long trailer begins by introducing us to Hanuman (played by Devdatta Nage), who takes us to the world of Ramayana. We are then introduced to Prabhas’s Raghava (Lord Rama), Sunny Singh’s Lakshmana and Kriti Sanon’s Janaki (Sita). The clip focuses on their 14-year exile during which the crown prince of Ayodhya lived in the forest with his wife and brother.

The trailer has glimpses of some of the most pivotal scenes of the Ramayana — the Sitaharan scene (featuring Saif disguised as a sadhu begging for food from Janaki), Hanuman carrying Sanjeevani mountain and the foundation laying of the Ram Setu.

The trailer ends with a scene of Saif laughing evilly while worshipping Lord Shiva in front of a massive Shiva linga. The trailer promises an epic battle between Raghav and Lankesh.

Sharing the trailer link on his Instagram handle, Prabhas wrote, “Hari Anant, Hari Katha Ananta🙏🏻 Jai Shri Ram.”

Earlier, a teaser of the film dropped in mid-2022, received huge criticism due to its poor special effects and the characterisation of Ravana. In the trailer, the main antagonist of the film only appears for a few seconds but leaves quite an impact. The makers have also worked on the VFX.

Directed by Om Raut, Adipurush is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Om Raut, Prasad Sutar and Rajesh Nair. The film’s music is composed by Ajay–Atul. It is reportedly the most expensive Indian film of all time with a budget of over Rs 700 crore.

Adipurush will be released globally on June 16 in 3D.
