The makers of Adipurush have postponed the movie’s release following heavy criticism of the film teaser due to the poor quality of its VFX and visual effects. Instead of the original January release, the film, helmed by Om Raut, will now release on June 16.

The entire VFX portion of the film will be reworked, according to sources.

“In order to give complete visual experience to the viewers, we need to give more time to the teams working on the film,” a statement released by the director said.

Starring Prabhas as Ram, Kriti Sanon as Sita and Saif Ali Khan as Raavan, the teaser of Adipurush was released amid much fanfare in Ayodhya on October 2. However, the teaser received an unexpected backlash from all quarters for its poor visual effects. Both Prabhas and Saif Ali Khan’s looks also came under fire.

With its June release, Adipurush will be competing with Jawan, Dream Girl 2 and Satya Prem Ki Katha, which are also slated to release around the same time.
