Comedian-actor Adam Sandler — known for movies like Murder Mystery (2019), Hubie Halloween (2020) and Hustle (2022) — will receive the People’s Icon honour at the People’s Choice Awards, to be held at Santa Monica’s Barker Hangar on February 18, the organisers announced on social media on Thursday.
“The man who does it all, industry legend Adam Sandler is this year’s People Icon. Watch him receive this honor at the People’s Choice Awards, February 18th, 8/7c on @peacock @nbc @eentertainment,” People’s Choice Awards official Instagram page wrote alongside a picture of the actor.
Sandler was last seen in Sammi Cohen’s coming-of-age comedy drama You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah alongside his wife Jackie Sandler and his daughters Sadie and Sunny Sandler. The 57-year-old actor will next appear in Johan Renck’s upcoming science fiction drama Spaceman, also starring Paul Dano, Carey Mulligan, Kunal Nayyar and Isabella Rossellini.
People’s Choice Awards 2024 will be hosted by Canadian actor Simu Liu, known for portraying Shang-Chi in the 2021 MCU film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Liu has also been nominated for movie performance of the year.
The two-hour-long award ceremony honouring the best in movies, television, music and pop culture, as voted by general public and fans, will air live on Peacock, NBC and E! from 8 pm Et/ 5 pm Pt in the US and from 6.30 am in India.
In addition to Sandler, the four-time Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Lenny Kravitz is all set to receive the Music Icon Award at the event.
