Just after a week announcing her collaboration with mentor Karan Johar for Jigra, Alia Bhatt started shooting for the Vasan Bala-directed action film on Wednesday.
With a bunch of behind-the-scenes moments from the set, Alia penned a note on Instagram on behalf of team Jigra, ‘And, we’re rolling... day one of bringing our Jigra to life. Stay tuned as we bring to you a piece of our hearts. Fingers and toes crossed for the journey ahead.’
In one of the pictures, Alia is snapped staring at her vanity van door, which has a poster of her new project pasted on it, with a sipper bottle in hand. In the next, she is seen getting her hair done, followed by another at the makeup table with elder sister Shaheen giving her company. There are snapshots of director Vasan Bala looking at the monitor intently, a pair of white Converse shoes (which probably belongs to Alia’s character) and the Jigra clapboard.
Congratulatory messages poured in from Alia’s mother Soni Razdan and industry friends such as Sonam Kapoor, Zoya Akhtar, Ranveer Singh and Dia Mirza.
After showcasing her flair for action in the Gal Gadot-starrer Netflix film Heart of Stone, Alia is all set to channel her energy into an actioner again. Jigra is slated to release on September 27, 2024.
Alia is co-producing Jigra with Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. It is her second film as producer after Jasmeet K. Reen’s much-acclaimed Netflix film Darlings, co-starring Vijay Varma and Shefali Shah.
Vasan Bala’s last venture was Monica! O My Darling for Netflix, which got him a lot of appreciation. The director of Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota and Peddlers is known for his unique style of storytelling.
