The news report shared by Amitabh reveals Abhishek as the antagonist in the film for which action scenes have been choreographed by Pathaan director Siddharth Anand. Shah Rukh and Suhana’s roles in the film, however, have been kept under wraps.

Backed by Siddharth’s Marflix Pictures and Shah Rukh’s Red Chillies Entertainment, King is set to go on floors later this year and is expected to arrive in theatres sometime in 2025 or early 2026.

Known for his films like Kahaani and Badla, Sujoy last helmed the Netflix thriller film Jaane Jaan starring Kareena Kapoor Khan, Jaideep Ahlawat and Vijay Varma. He previously worked with Abhishek in 2021’s Bob Biswas, a spin-off to the 2012 thriller Kahaani.

Abhishek and Shah Rukh previously worked on several films together. These include Karan Johar-directed Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna (2006) and Farah Khan-helmed Happy New Year (2014).

Apart from King, Abhishek has Tarun Mansukhani’s Housefull 5 in the pipeline, which will also star Akshay Kumar, Pooja Hegde, Riteish Deshmukh and Kriti Kharbanda.
