Abar Hawa Bodol to Rabindra Kabya Rahasya: Eskay Movies to release 18 Bengali films in 2025

These films have been directed by Kamaleswar Mukherjee, Parambrata Chattopadhyay, Sayantan Ghosal, Anshuman Pratyush and Mainak Bhaumik

Kolkata-based production banner Eskay Movies on Monday announced its content slate for 2025, comprising 18 films set for theatrical release. The release roster includes titles directed by filmmakers Kamaleswar Mukherjee, Parambrata Chattopadhyay, Sayantan Ghosal, Anshuman Pratyush and Mainak Bhaumik.

A galaxy of Tollywood stars — Ankush, Oindrila Sen, Srabanti Chatterjee, Ritwick Chakraborty, Jeetu Kamal, Ritabhari Chakraborty Rudranil Ghosh, Raima Sen, Rajatava Dutta and Sudipta Chakraborty — will be featuring in these films.

Kamaleswar Mukherjee has directed Rajatava Dutta, Jeetu Kamal and Srabanti Chatterjee in Ami Amar Moto, a drama set in London. Anupam Roy has composed the music for this film.

Ritwick Chakraborty, Anirban Chakrabarti and Ishaa Saha will be starring in Oporichito, a thriller directed by Joydeep Mukherjee. Parambrata has teamed up with Ritwick Chakraborty and Paayel Sarkar for a horror thriller titled Ekhane Ondhokar.

Parambrata will also be back with the sequel to his debut film Hawa Bodol (2012) in 2025. Rudranil Ghosh, Raima Sen, Anusha Vishwanathan and Parambrata, who were part of the original cast, will be back in Abar Hawa Bodol.

Anshuman Pratyush, who directed Ogo Bideshini for Eskay Movies banner in 2022, is back with Annapurna, featuring Ananya Chatterjee, Rishav Basu, Ditipriya Roy and Alexandra Taylor. Anshuman will also be directing Jeetu Kamal and Paayel Sarkar in Apanjan. Jeetu teams up with Anshuman for a third film, Babu Shona, with Srabanti as his co-star.

Aloknanda Roy Banerjee, Bidipta Chakraborty, Sudipta Chakraborty, Darshana Banik, Manasi Sinha, Sauraseni Maitra and Rajnandini Paul play seven women who go on a foreign trip together in Uranchu, also directed by Anshuman.

Ankush and Oindrila Sen are set to headline Santa, also directed by Anshuman Pratyush. Ritabhari Chakraborty will feature in a thriller titled Grihostho, directed by Mainak Bhaumik, revolving around an enigmatic woman named Aparna Bose.

Bangladeshi filmmaker Anonno Mamun is set to direct his first Indian film, Dorod, featuring Shakib Khan, Sonal Chauhan and Paayel Sarkar. Raja Chanda directed Ankush and Oindrila in Chandrabindoo, also starring Anirban Chakrabarti, Tulika Bose and Shahed Bhattacherjee.

Also part of the release roster is Rabindra Nambiar’s Tobuo Bhalobashi, starring Aryann Bhowmik, Debattama Saha, Shaheb Bhattacherjee and Pritam Das. Srabanti and Ditipriya are set to play a mother-daughter duo in Nambiar’s Dead D, also starring Krushal Ahuja and Priyanka Mondal. Nambiar is set to direct another romantic drama, Jodi Emon Hoto, starring Rishav Basu and Ditipriya Roy.

Rishav is all set to play the Bengali Sherlock Holmes in Sayantan Ghosal’s Saralakkho Holmes. The ensemble cast includes Arna Mukhopadhyay, Gaurav Chakrabarty and Shaheb Chatterjee. Sayantan will also direct Rishav in a love story titled Bhalobashi Toke Bhalobeshe. Rajnandini Paul plays Rishav’s love interest in the film.

The final film in the lineup is Sayantan Ghosal’s Rabindra Kabya Rahasya featuring Ritwick, Srabanti, Priyanshu Chatterjee and Rajnandini Paul. The thriller had its premiere at the 54th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) last year.
