Production house T-Series Films on Wednesday announced that they are not developing or producing Aashiqui 3 for now, clarifying that their proposed film to be directed by Anurag Basu is not part of the Aashiqui franchise.
Since the Aashiqui franchise is jointly owned by T-Series and Mahesh Bhatt’s Vishesh Films, Aashiqui 3 will also be jointly produced by them if and when such a decision is made in the future, T-Series Films further stated.
The Bhushan Kumar-led production banner took to social media to discard rumours that they have been developing and producing the third instalment of the Aashiqui franchise. “T-series wishes to clarify that we are not presently involved in the development or production of Aashiqui 3. If and when Aashiqui 3 is initiated t-series and Vishesh films/Mukesh Bhatt being joint owners in the franchise shall produce it jointly only. We categorically deny any ongoing rumours suggesting that Aashiqui 3 is being produced under a different title by T-Series. Our proposed film to be directed by Anurag Basu is neither Aashiqui 3 nor part of the Aashiqui franchise,” they mentioned.
In the post, the production house also expressed their gratitude to their fans, reiterating their commitment to delivering quality content. “We sincerely appreciate ongoing support and enthusiasm of our fans. Our commitment lies in consistently delivering top-notch content, and we eagerly anticipate future ventures with our esteemed partners,” T-Series Films wrote on Instagram.
While the first film of the Aashiqui franchise, released in 1990, starred Rahul Roy, Anu Aggarwal and Deepak Tijori in pivotal roles, its sequel Aashiqui 2, directed by Mohit Suri, was led by Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor.
It has been reported that Satyaprem Ki Katha actor Kartik Aaryan and Kedarnath actress Sara Ali Khan have been roped in for Aashiqui 3.
