The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on Friday gave a shoutout to Aamir Khan’s character Rancho from the 2009 comedy drama 3 Idiots by sharing a clip of the hilarious exam hall scene from the Rajkumar Hirani-directed Hindi blockbuster.

“Rancho's presence of mind was at 100% here,” The Academy wrote alongside the video on Instagram.

The video shows Aamir’s Rancho, Sharman Joshi's Raju and R Madhavan's Farhan rushing to the exam hall half an hour late to take a test. They keep writing in their papers even after the time is up, which frustrates the invigilator. The invigilator then says that he can’t accept their papers as they broke the rules. However, Rancho takes their answer sheets and mixes them up with the pile of other sheets and runs away.

Fans flooded the comments section expressing their excitement. “The movie’s story is Oscar worthy,” one of them wrote. “Still in love with Farhan's late realization,” another fan commented.

Adapted from Chetan Bhagat’s novel Five Point Someone, 3 Idiots follows the story of three engineering students who share a close bond and navigate the pressures of academic life in India.

Produced under the banner of Vinod Chopra Films, 3 Idiots also starred Kareena Kapoor, Mona Singh and Boman Irani.
