“I will do a film only when I am emotionally ready” — Bollywood star Aamir Khan revealed this at the trailer launch event of Punjabi film Carry On Jatta 3 in Mumbai on May 30.

After his last release Laal Singh Chaddha tanked at the box office, the actor took a breather and is yet to sign a movie. “I have not signed any film. I have been spending time with my family and I’m enjoying it. I will do a film when I am emotionally ready for it,” the actor said.

Replying to quotations about his disappearance from social media, Aamir also said he quit social media because he felt it did not suit him. “I didn’t think too much before quitting social media. Actually, when I was on social media, I was just there for the sake of it. I would hardly post anything. By the way, it’s a wonderful thing. But it’s not for me.”

The Dangal actor attended the trailer launch event at the request of Carry On Jatta star Gippy Grewal. He said he couldn’t turn down Gippy’s request to attend the trailer launch event. “Gippy is like family. I got a message from him and I replied, ‘Just let me know when I have to come’ [for the event].”

The 58-year-old superstar confessed that he hadn’t watched the first two films in the Carry On Jatta franchise. “But after watching the trailer, I told Gippy that now I know why the first two films became hits. The trailer entertained me,” he said.

“I believe that this film will definitely become successful. And it’s a good thing that they’re attempting an all-India release with such an entertaining film. It’s time that we give Punjabi cinema that opportunity,” he went on to say.

Asked about whether he would like to do a Punjabi film in the future, Aamir said he would do any film in any language if he liked the story. “As far as I am concerned, I have to like the story. If it’s in another language, I’ll learn that language and do the film.”

At the event, the Taare Zameen Par actor also playfully asked Carry On Jatta director Smeep Kang to write a comedy film for him. “Write a comedy film for me. I love doing comedy. I did well in Andaz Apna Apna.”

Carry On Jatta 3, starring Gippy Grewal and Sonam Bajwa, is the third instalment of the franchise. Portions of the film have been shot in the UK. Gippy is also the producer of the madcap comedy drama. It will arrive in theatres in Punjabi with subtitles on June 29.
