Academy Award-winning music composer A.R. Rahman’s daughter Khatija Rahman will be making her debut as a music composer with the upcoming Tamil film Minmini, the film’s director Halitha Shameem announced on Monday.
“So happy to be working with this exceptional talent, Khatija Rahman for #MinMini. The euphonious singer is a brilliant music composer too. Some great music underway! ✨✨,” she wrote alongside a picture of her and Khatija at a recording studio.
Khatija made her debut as a playback singer with the acclaimed 2010 sci-fi action film Enthiran. She sang the title track of the film in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. She has also lent her voice in hit films like Robot, Mimi and Iravin Nizhal. Khatija recently sang Chinnanjiru (Marumurai) track for Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan: II.
Minmini stars Esther Anil, Gaurav Kalai and Pravin Kishore in the lead roles. Halitha is known for making Tamil films like Aelay (2021), Sillu Karupatti (2019) and Poovarasam Peepee (2014). Minmini is likely to release later this year.
