Oscar-winning composer A.R. Rahman will deliver this year’s Lata Mangeshkar Memorial Talk at the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa, the organisers announced on Monday.
Titled Musical Theatre in India, the event will feature Rahman in conversation with journalist Naman Ramachandran. The duo will explore how Lata Mangeshkar’s voice and artistry shaped the soundscape of Indian cinema, creating a foundation for music theatre that has resonated with generations. The event is set to take place at the Kala Academy in Goa on November 27 from 2.30pm to 4pm.
Rahman and Ramachandran are expected to discuss not only Mangeshkar’s impact but also the trajectory of Indian musical theatre as it adapts and grows, blending tradition with new creative expressions.
The Lata Mangeshkar Memorial Talk is part of the 55th International Film Festival of India, scheduled to take place in Goa from November 20-28. As part of the festival, a film bazaar will also be organised by the National Film Development Corporation of India (NFDC), showcasing 21 feature films and eight web series from seven countries.
IFFI Goa recently revealed the lineup for the Indian Panorama section of the festival which includes 25 feature films and 20 non-feature films. Randeep Hooda’s Swatantrya Veer Savarkar will be the opening film of Indian Panorama. Three Bengali films — Aamar Boss, Bhootpori and Onko Ki Kothin — are part of the lineup.
