Music composer A. R. Rahman shared a clip of the scoring session of Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan: 2 (PS2), comprising a set of foreign musicians, at London’s iconic Abbey Road Studios on Sunday.

The clip shows the interior of the recording studio with scenes from PS2 playing on a screen atop the recording room. Mani Ratnam is seen sitting in the sound recordist’s room and actually stares at the camera before breaking out into a smile.

“Ps2 scoring at #abbyroadstudios,” the Oscar-winning composer captioned the video posted on Instagram.

The Abbey Road studio was made famous by the British pop band Beatles, who used the studio as the venue for many of the innovative recording techniques that they adopted throughout the 1960s.

Mani Ratnam adapted Kalki Krishnamurthy’s iconic novel Ponniyin Selvan into a two-part film. The project casts actors like Vikram Karthi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha and Jayam Ravi.

The upcoming film also features Ashwin Kakumanu, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Sarath Kumar, Prabhu, Vikram Prabhu, Jayaram, Prakash Raj, Parthiban, Rahman, Lal, Jayachitra and Riyaz Khan in pivotal roles. PS2 will hit the theatres on April 28.

Released on September 30, PS1 grossed over Rs 500 crore at the worldwide box office and went on to become one of the highest-grossing Indian films of 2022.
