Oscar-winning composer A.R. Rahman has reacted to reports about a possible collaboration between him and English musician Sting, saying it was “pending for a long time”.

Sting, who headlined Lollapalooza India, expressed his eagerness to meet Rahman during his visit to Mumbai. In an interview with magazine Rolling Stone, the 72-year-old said, “I was gonna have a meeting last night with A.R. Rahman, but he got stuck in an airport somewhere. So it didn’t happen.”

“We’ll meet eventually, and we’ll discuss a collaboration, perhaps,” Sting told Rolling Stone.

Rahman reciprocated the sentiment by sharing a clip of the news report on his Instagram Stories, accompanied by the caption, “Pending for a long time.”

In May 2023, Rahman had posted a viral video clip on Twitter which showed Sting watching José Feliciano's rendition of the classic song Every Breath You Take at the 2017 Polar Music Prize ceremony. Rahman shared the viral clip with the caption, “I’ve been there .”
