The name itself spells quirk. The YouTube channel Uribaba, a brainchild of Sourav Chakraborty and Amit Bose, aims to become a platform that looks to discover and promote promising talent from Bengal. “When we formed Trickster-Span and started making web series, our motto was to create fresh interesting visual palettes that would give rise to novel organic content. Two people who stayed with us were Naresh Kheterpal and Sanjeev Dhirani, two personalities with a strong Bengali essence and a keen interest in the flavour of Bengali arts and talent. We have been making different kinds of audio-visuals and we have been gaining experience. Since our genesis, a lot of young people have been approaching us with different concepts. These would excite me and Ishita. Suddenly, it increased substantially in the pandemic. The applicants included directors, story writers, music directors of all shapes. We connected emotionally and felt so eager to work with them. Amitda and I discussed this at length and this led to the genesis of an idea to form an independent channel where we could showcase all their talents,” said Sourav Chakraborty.

“Uribaba started as an effort to create new content and showcase the talent of Bengal. To add to this, there is no need for any monthly subscription. Be it 5MM On The Rock directed by Sourav, which highlights Bengal’s music or Pradipta Bhattacharyya’s Birohi that depicts a story based in rural Bengal, the focus has always been on innovative content… we have also decided to reach out to viewers through an app in the future,” said Amit Bose. Here are a few upcoming projects from Uribaba....
