Giving millennials a nostalgic dose of ’90s high school romantic dramas like She’s All That, the Rebel Wilson-starrer portrays the ‘then&now’ of the genre. Wilson’s character, Stephanie ‘Steph’ Conway, in Senior Year does all that it takes to go from awkward international student to prom-queen material. The movie includes the age-old makeover montage of the teenage Conway that turns her into the popular cheerleading captain. However, due to the actions of her rival, Tiffany Blanchette, Conway ends up in a 20-year-long coma.

Having lost her prime high-school year, her boyfriend, her dream future life and her popularity, the 37-year-old Conway returns to high school to get it all back. It’s an enjoyable watch, especially for those who love to binge on movies like Mean Girls. In this rom-com, Conway finds love and also learns to love herself, sending a heartening message.
