If you’re in the mood for a love story minus complications, try Janeen Damian’s Falling for Christmas, starring Lindsay Lohan, Chord Overstreet and Olivia Perez. Lohan plays Sierra, a spoilt heiress who meets with a skiing accident in the days leading up to Christmas. She is diagnosed with amnesia and finds herself in the care of handsome cabin owner Jake (Chord Overstreet). No prizes for guessing what happens next — Sierra falls for Jake, learns the value of simple living and when her memory is restored, she yearns to be united with the love of her life.

Christmas with You

Directed by Gabriela Tagliavini, Christmas With You marks the return of Freddie Prinze Jr. to romcoms almost after a gap of two decades in the role of a widowed music teacher. Aime Garcia, of Lucifer fame, plays Angelina, a pop star suffering from a career burnout. She escapes to a small town in order to fulfil a fan’s wish but finds inspiration to revive her career in the process. And of course she also gets a shot at love.

The Noel Diary

Charles Shyer, best known for movies like The Parent Trap and Father of the Bride, made his OTT directorial debut on Netflix with The Noel Diary. Here, bestselling author Jake Turner (Justin Hartley) returns home during Christmas to settle his estranged mother’s estate, only to discover a diary that holds secrets to his past. Entwined with him in this mystery is Rachel (Barrett Doss) — an enigmatic young woman on a mission of her own. Together, they begin a journey to rediscover their pasts and carve a new future for themselves.

Christmas on Mistletoe Farm

Directed by Debbie Isitt, Christmas on Mistletoe Farm tells the story of Matt (Scott Garnham), a widowed man who moves to the countryside during Christmas with his five children after inheriting a farm. Despite a predictable plot line, this film is full of holiday-themed festivities. Isitt also explores the struggles of a single father and celebrates his deep bond with the children.

Scrooge: A Christmas Carol

An adaptation of the classic Charles Dickens tale, Stephen Donnelly’s Scrooge: A Christmas Carol is among the most heartwarming holiday-themed movies this year. Luke Evans, Jessie Buckley, Olivia Colman and Johnny Flynn have lent their voices to this project. The animated film revolves around Ebenezer Scrooge (Luke Evans), a miserly businessman who is visited by the ghost of his former business partner Jacob Marley (Jonathan Pryce) on Christmas eve — along with the spirits of Christmas past, present and future — to make Scrooge mend his ways of life.

I Believe in Santa

John Ducey and Christina Moore star in this heartwarming Christmas romcom directed by Alex Ranarivelo about taking a leap of faith in love. Christmas is Lisa’s (Christina) least favourite holiday. She is appalled to find that Tom (John Ducey), who she has been dating for five months, is obsessed with the festival. As Christmas eve approaches, Lisa begins to understand the true meaning of love and also discovers the beauty of the holiday season.
