Tina and Shalin’s relationship

Shalin Bhanot and Tina Datta's relationship has been one of the most-talked-about topics on the show. The two started off as friends and soon confessed that they have feelings for each other. While Shalin was upfront in admitting that he loved Tina, the latter maintained that she liked him as a friend despite dropping hints that Shalin was more than just a friend for her. The duo were often accused of faking their relationship for the contest. But they reached breaking point after Salman Khan accused Tina of using Shalin for her game. From that point, Tina only harboured hatred for Shalin and they fought bitterly inside the house.

The ‘Mandali’ bonding

One of the most-adored relationships in this season of Bigg Boss was the bond shared by the ‘Mandali’ gang. Sajid Khan, Shiv Thakare, MC Stan, Abdu Rozik, Nimrit Kaur Ahluwalia and Sumbul Touqeer Khan — all members of the squad — stood for each other through thick and thin. They competed together in all the tasks and their friendship was clearly visible in the way they protected each other. Despite their varied personal opinions, the ‘Mandali’ always put up a united face.

Sumbul’s father vs Tina’s mother

Although they were not inmates of the Bigg Boss 16 house, Sumbul’s father and Tina’s mother often hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons. Some housemates raised eyebrows when Sumbul spent a lot of time with Shalin and Tina at the beginning, prompting Sumbul’s father to make an appearance on the show twice to warn his daughter about the company she keeps.

During an infamous video call with Sumbul, Papa Touqeer even called Shalin and Tina kamine, which infuriated the latter. They broke all ties with Sumbul and even accused her of being obsessed and infatuated with Shalin. To make matters worse, Tina’s mother got into a verbal spat with Papa Touqeer on a Weekend Ka Vaar episode and Salman Khan had to intervene before they came to blows. Tina’s mother again became a viral sensation on social media during the Family Week on Bigg Boss 16 when she mistook Sreejita De to be her daughter and hugged her from the back. The moment she realised her mistake, she went the other way without saying a word to Sreejita.

Shalin’s chicken obsession

Shalin Bhanot, one of the five finalists of Bigg Boss 16, grabbed eyeballs on the show for all the wrong reasons. Shalin claims that he has some kind of protein deficiency which necessitates the intake of a fixed amount of animal protein (aka chicken) daily. In the fifth week, when Gautam Vig sacrificed all the ration of the house to save Soundarya from eviction, Shalin’s chicken obsession reached its peak. He was seen moving from one camera to another, pleading with Bigg Boss to send some chicken for him.

Abdu’s crush on Nimrit

Tajikistan singer Abdu Rozik had been winning hearts from the moment he stepped into the Bigg Boss 16 house. Every housemate gave him a special treatment since he was from a different country and didn’t understand the language. Abdu developed a crush on Choti Sarrdaarni actress Nimrit Kaur Ahluwalia on the show. Though Abdu maintained he only had a harmless crush on her, Sajid Khan felt it was much more than that. Even Nimrit made him understand that she had a boyfriend outside the house and things cannot work out between the two.
