Class is not just another GenZ web series; it shows way more than pop culture, perhaps why it’s leading Netflix India’s weekly top 10 series for the third week in a row.

Directed by Ashim Ahluwalia of Miss Lovely fame, Class is a fair adaptation of Netflix’s hit Spanish series Elite. The music composed by Aditya Narayan and Nayantara Bhatkal is another discovery and something one can play on a loop. Girta sambhalta is already an earworm. This teen thriller drama with a social commentary on power, privilege, prejudice and mental health is loaded with a bunch of immensely talented young actors. We pick our top four favourite actors from Class who we want to see more of in other shows and films.

Cwaayal Singh as Balli Sehrawat

In the entire cast, Cwaayal Singh probably has the highest recall value for his wannabe influencer act as Balli. Among the three less-privileged students who get admission into the elite school, Balli is the most nonchalant, straight up and puts his rich, snobbish classmates in place, time and again. He boasts of having a huge following on social media, throws parties, flaunts his abs and is very confident in his skin. His fun twerking and the ‘Balli in ciaga’ moment when a friend makes him wear the luxury brand Balenciaga left us in splits.

Cwaayal is definitely a rare find. Before the Netflix series, he did a couple of ad commercials and acted in plays. Recently on Instagram, Cwaayal shared how he maintained the continuity of Balli’s look through three years for the shoot of Class, from sticking to a diet of chicken and broccoli to acing the Delhi accent.

Madhyama Segal as Saba Manzoor

Madhyama’s sparkling eyes, coupled with her restrained grace, make her a winner. Raised in a conservative setting and given the opportunity to study in an elite school, the brilliant Saba aspires to become an international diplomat, with the help of her high school scholarship. Hijab-adorned Saba stands up to the taunts from her affluent classmates and refuses to be bullied easily. Though she is vulnerable when exposed to an unlikely situation, which only makes her more real, Saba is the voice of logic and practicality on the show.

Madhyama, who makes Saba so relatable, is the great-granddaughter of actress Zohra Sehgal and is a trained classical Odissi dancer. Hop over to her Instagram to see her passionate dancing across genres, from classical to contemporary.

Ayesha Kanga as Yashica Mehta

Just type Ayesha Kanga on Instagram and see how many fan clubs pop up for her portrayal of the eccentric and ambitious Yashica Mehta. Beyond her striking good looks, Ayesha brings an element of grey to Yashica. A child of a broken family, Yashica poses as a fun girl for her social media followers and tells her boyfriend to be intimate with the girl she considers her rival, only to bring her down in front of the world. That’s typical Yashica, who will mask her low moments — after breaking down following a tiff with her boyfriend, for instance — by taking a lot of selfies, smiling ear to ear, and posting them on social media for validation. In another powerful sequence, Yashica decodes the social media game during a police interrogation.

Ayesha, who plays Yashica with a lot of spunk, is a graphic designer from National Institute of Design and a model. Recently, as part of the Class post-promotion fashion shoot with the cast members, Ayesha turned creative director for a collaboration between Manish Malhotra, Swarovski and Christian Louboutin, and did a superb job of it.

Chintan Rachchh as Faruq Manzoor

Chintan’s Faruq is a Kashmiri Muslim, who peddles drugs to mostly students and helping his father in the tailoring business. He lives with his parents and sister Saba in the heart of Delhi. From the manner he speaks to his attire, Faruq is far from predictable. Faruk and Dhruv Sanghvi’s (Chayan Chopra) relationship hits home because of their effortless chemistry. Despite the emotional upheaval, Chintan brings an amount of elegance to Faruq with his honest act. Chintan, who faces the camera for the first time in Class, is also a poet and a theatre artist. Go on to his Instagram page to indulge in his spoken word poetry.
