The End is here. The End of the Game… the guessing game literally!! It has been a wait of galactic proportions (it involves no less than the Marvel Cinematic Universe). After being subjected to weeks of spoilers and fan theory blitz on social media and word-of-mouth, t2 puts the theories to rest and picks the best moments of the finale to the Infinity Saga. The epic run-time, though, ensured what viewers were looking for and also what they were clearly not expecting.

Biggest Cheers

The opening credits: It started slowly and then escalated quickly as fans screamed wildly in their chairs. This cheer, however, didn’t have anything to do with the plot or the characters. It was more like a prayer had been answered.

Iron Man is introduced: Though the film starts with another superhero, where the crowd was a little subdued, the scene where Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr) is with Nebula (Karen Gillan) gets some whistles too. Not unfounded as millions of Marvel fans would go to the extent of saying he is the face of the franchise.

Iron Man gets a vision of Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) from his spaceship: Clearly a huge hit with the audience, some went to the extent of saying she would have a major role to play (read eliminate Thanos) later. While she does a lot of stuff in the end, she is there throughout helping the Avengers on their mission.

Iron Man meeting Captain America: What can you say about this scene? Pretty much everything as the two meet after three weeks since Thanos (Josh Brolin) turned half the universe’s population to dust. Even with differences in opinion, it’s evident the two will team up to take on the Big Bad Guy.

Thor comes up on screen: Clearly the winner (in terms of howls) till this point of the film. But also major gasps from the audience as the God of Thunder is no longer the ripped, chiselled version but a fat, obese, beer-downing guy who is clearly wallowing in self-neglect. He still has the best lady-killer line in the film when he says “I like this one” to Captain Marvel and summons his enchanted axe called the Stormbreaker. The audience is clearly relieved as they believe Thor (Chris Hemsworth) hasn’t lost it. More whistles from the crowd.

The stones are missing from Thanos’s glove: “What?!!” Yes! Only that word comes out collectively. The gems (as mentioned in the comics) or stones here form the soul of the movie. The stones have always been integral to the franchise and more for Marvel Comics heroes who have faced its threat many times before.

Thanos is killed: Yes you read that right. This one got a lot of cheer and flak (too strong a word; disappointment would be more like it) in equal measure. Well that’s why we are here, aren’t we but then why so soon? (This scene comes pretty early in the movie) in around 20 minutes. The audience is clearly disappointed. But it’s not the end, you can be sure of that.

Two Captain Americas face off against each other: We won’t give it away. But that the two superheroes would come face to face with each other was pretty evident in the way the plot was shaping up. It’s a great fight actually with a lot of acrobatics… Well, we all know Captain America (Chris Evans), don’t we?!

Thor gets his hammer back: The God of Thunder gets his hammer (Mjolnir) back. In Thor Ragnarok (2017) just after Odin dies, Hela, the Goddess of Death, crushes the hammer into pieces.

The grand battle starts: It’s an explosion of special effects and CGI that leaves the viewers spellbound. Filmed in IMAX, the 3D visuals make the movie a must-watch even if one wants to see it as a stand-alone film without knowing about the MCU.

Captain America wields the Mjolnir: A standout moment when Thor is almost beaten to submission by Thanos and the audience is on the edge of their seats. Cut to Cap summoning the hammer and leaping mid-air to strike the Mad Titan. Ideally this should have been the poster of the film.

Captain Marvel returns: And how! She forces Thanos’s spaceship to fire lasers at her, saving the superheroes on earth. She also decimates the aerial warship into smithereens and takes on the biggest MCU villain single-handedly.

Cameos: When Captain America and Iron Man travel back to the 1970s, a car passes by. Driving it is Stan Lee who hollers: “Make love, not war”. Co-director Joe Russo too has a cameo.
